Public _SSS Stun Stick Shackle
This course covers the skills and knowledge required for the humane, effective and hygienic stunning and bleeding of animals and to shackle and hang an animal on a processing rail after stunning

DURATION:  1 x 3 hour online face to face workshop using Microsoft Teams, listed below, practice on the job followed by an observation assessment by our Assessor. All training and assessment is expected to be completed within a 6 weeks period.

​ENTRY REQUIREMENT: A Language, Literacy and Numeracy diagnostic tool (Skills Check) must be completed and submitted at least five (5) days before the workshop date.

Introduction:
Participants will undertake an online face to face workshop using Microsoft Teams prior to applying learning on the job.  The final assessment will involve being observed in a live-work environment by our assessor either in person or via real-time video call (e.g. Facetime or Microsoft Teams).

The assessor must be able to observe the participant conducting the practical tasks required for each unit.   
Please note: company approval may be required should a real time video call be needed for the observation assessment.
If enrolments for this course do not meet the minimum required (5), bookings will be automatically transferred to the next available course. Notification will be given 10 days before the initial course date.

Target Audience:
This unit applies to individuals who work in the meat processing sector learning and performing Stun, Stick and Shackle tasks.

Learning Outcomes:
  • AMPA3000 - Stun animal
  • AMPWHS201 Sharpen and handle knives safely (pre requisite for AMPA3001)
  • AMPA3001 - Stick and bleed animal
  • AMPA2008 - Shackle animal
  • Credit is applied if you have previously completed AMPWHS201. A copy of your Statement of Attainment is required.
Learning Methods:
This course will be delivered by a highly skilled industry experienced, qualified and industry-current facilitator.
All course materials will be provided 7 days prior to the commencement of the course.

The learning and assessment activity will include:
  • A 3 hour online face to face training session using Microsoft Teams 
  • Activities to practice back in your own workplace prior to the final assessment.
Assessment will include:
  • Question and Answer quizzes (completed during the online session)
  • Workplace observation with our Assessor onsite or, where we are unable to conduct this onsite, live Observation using a mobile device and a video conferencing tool (e.g. Apple Facetime or Microsoft Teams)   
  • Supervisor Report completed by your direct supervisor.
